Bei diesem Instrument hatten sich aufgrund der niedrigen Luftfeuchtigkeit alte Risse geöffnet und neue Risse gebildet.
Im Zuge der Restaurierung sanierte ich über 20 offene Deckenrisse, unzählige Zargenrisse, sicherte alte Reparaturen, erneuerte den gespaltenen Unterklotz und versetzte die Geige wieder in einen spielbaren Zustand.
Alte schmutzige Risse, die sich geöffnet hatten:
Die Norwegerin Hansine Pellbäck, eine fantastische Geigerin, die diese Geige vom Eigentümer zur Verfügung gestellt bekommen hat, ist glücklich, jetzt wieder darauf spielen zu können. Sie war vor allem von der Klangverbesserung begeistert. 👍
Hansines Mutter schrieb mir kurz darauf:
„We spent the morning rejoicing and fine tuning! If one found Alexander’s updates of the past months impressive, they were still insufficient for preparing you for what was awaiting in his atelier this morning! The nearest we come to describing how we feel, is something similar to Stendhal syndrome! So friends, not only are we elated but also recovering from this special variant of an artistic shock!

Übrigens: Hansine gewann alle fünf internationalen Wettbewerbe, an denen sie teilgenommen hat, und erreichte letztes Jahr 100 von 100 Punkten bei Prima La Musica!

Der Eigentümer dieser schönen Geige schrieb mir:

It might seem like the instrument was close to a total breakdown before it arrived in your workshop. (…) After following the impressive and very scary process through your updates and pictures, I have full confidence in the work you did, and my profound wish is that the instrument proves to be worth the many hours work and money spent in sound and quality. (…)
We have agreed to use your services for any professional maintenance or repairs needed, to firmly secure that you will be the “chief Geigenbaumeister” 😊 for the instrument.“
Vielen Dank an Jacob von der Lippe, meinem lieben Kollegen aus Oslo, der dem Eigentümer dieses schönen Instrumentes empfohlen hat, mich mit der Restaurierung seiner Geige zu beauftragen.
Update 1.7. 2025:
Um noch ein wenig mehr PS aus Ihrem Instrument herausholen zu können, wünschte sich Hansine einen neuen Steg von mir.
„Oh – wow!“ – das war Hansines spontane erste Reaktion.
Ihre Mutter schrieb mir anschließend: „What a morning in your atelier!!! Many thanks! We are knocked over sideways, both with the Norwegian violin that sounds prima now after your masterful restoration as well and the Guadagnini she had the great fortune to try out!“
