Last Friday I received my Cuypers back and I want to let you know how happy I am with the incredible perfect work you did on my
violin. I’ve been playing on this wonderful instrument for the past 20 years so you can imagine how I felt when I broke it
earlier this year. Truly a violinist's worst nightmare coming true. I am very grateful to you for doing such a fantastic job!
Also my colleagues are amazed by the work you did!

nachdem ich eine drei Jahre dauernde Restauration einer italienischen Geige um 1700 abgeschlossen habe, mit der er mich beauftragt
„I met Alexander for the first time when he opened his workshop in Linz. I had a little problem with my violin which needed to
be fixed urgently, so I thought I will go to him and check it out. I was surprised how young he was! While he was working on
my violin, I was able to look around and got to check out his portfolio book. It contained many photos of his repairs, he had
done on other instruments. It was a very nice display of fine quality work!
Next time we met, I needed again more work. We had a chance to talk a bit more. He inspected my violin and told me what needed
to be fixed. He was at that time working on his new violin. I asked him if I could play it once it was finished. He was very
excited about it. At that time he was also fixing a sound post crack on an Amati violin. I was able to see this repair through
different stages. After the violin was repaired, it looked very impressive!!! Short time after, I got to play on his new violin.
I was impressed how easy it was to play on it. I played on it in my orchestra rehearsal. I got some comments from my colleagues
and I shared them with Alexander. He asked me if I would be in the future interested to play his new instruments? I said of
course…. And so started our friendship journey.
I have then played on his 2 new violins. The varnish looked nice, but the sound was impressive! It was, particularly in one violin
simply powerful. It was easy to play, had power and nice overtones!!! Soon after I learned it was quickly sold!
Alexander also did a big work on my old Italian violin….. He repaired and cleaned old cracks on my violin and noticed that
there was a thick layer of compact, strong polish, which stopped the violin from ringing….. He removed it beautifully.
My violin started to ring again and sounded much better!
In between he built a copy of del Gesu´s „Il Cannone“. I was the first person to play on it! I was so impressed with the sound,
I took it for a Swan Lake performance, where I had many difficult violin solos to play. Many people in the orchestra could
not believe this was the instrument Alexander just built! It sounded simply good and had power and it was easy to play on it!
I must say Alexander is a young violin maker with many skills. His craftsmanship is very clean and good. His repairs are done very
nicely and well. His new instruments are better and better, easy to play on and sounding simply good and powerful!
When you are in Linz, just go in, talk to him, try his instruments and you will be in good hands."
